Through the eyes of a refugeeA look through the eyes of a refugee,
driven from their home, forced to flee.
"How could anyone think I choose to run,
what choice did I have when the war begun?"
"I saw bombs reduce buildings to rubble,
Every day the pile of bodies would double."
"Raging fires turned entire cities to ash,
the dead so numerous they were discarded as thrash."
"I lived on the outskirts so my home was spared,
"until one day the war drew close: we were so scared."
"As men with guns broke down the door and entered my house,
They beat me unconscious, then raped and murdered my spouse!"
"My children abducted to be made soldier or slave,
I fear by now, my children lie in an unmarked grave..."
Now multiply this story a million times and understand,
why it is refugees flee from the horrors in their land.
Try to imagine something similar happening to you,
your world torn apart, on the run with no one to turn to.

I think this narrative is beautiful in its composition of verses and at the same time has made on me a huge impact with its meaning. Especially in these times I think it is important to get a different view as there are so many negative opinions all around us. Grimmshell nails it with this - he makes the audience walk in the shoes of the refugees and opens up an understanding in these few lines, that otherwise might never be transmitted to some people. - EyeOfTheKat
I especially like this macro piece because it is quite simple. Many people take images like these (me included) and what makes this image special is the ground the drop stays on. It's some kind of wool, which looks so fluffy and creates a nice bokeh effect. Simple, but awesome. - OliviaMichalski

This piece has great imagery as well as rhythm. I could almost hear the harried breaths, in and out, the escalating volume of the narrator's voice and the skipped heartbeats as they talked about things that almost seem nonsensical yet hold so much meaning... It flows effortlessly from one vivid image to the next like the switching of channels on a television, all the while still invoking and building emotion, interest, confusion and even nostalgia in a way that seems like it would be hard to relate to and yet, I do and that's why I like it so much. - classic-poet

A simple yet powerful and romantic poem with a great imagery. - JustACapharnaum
This is a beautiful shot of a perfect drop on a petal with astonishing bokeh. The title makes it special as it adds to the peculiar feeling that this beautiful moment can be any time over - or it can last forever. A perfect moment in time - preserved, frozen in this beautiful capture. - EyeOfTheKat
This is a very lovely read. I enjoyed how it explored such a complex subject in such a condensed way. - wei-en

This poem is fierce and vivid in its message of disgust and courage.
Both of these pieces together represent where I've come from (a purgatory of mere hope), and where I am now - free and happy. - Hades-Flower

The imagery in this poem is amazing - it gives such a strong, unaffected, natural feeling, and it's very well composed. - wei-en
The colors of nature by EyeOfTheKat
At first glance, this piece called out to me - the rich hues of blue and purple, amidst a blur of green. I took a closer look and I was absolutely entranced by the use of light and shade to show the delicately parted petals, tipped with smudges of white and speckled with drops of water that almost shimmer in the light. I also really like the angle of the shot as well as how it was set up, with a blurred center, almost as if to say there is still more to be discovered past these petal tips. - classic-poet
Haiku of a CorgiWith a friendly howl,
An eager disposition,
And short legs to boot.

This poem is so strong in its way. You can really imagine a corgi being awake, and ready to run! Aww - OliviaMichalski
